More Pinteresting Activities

We tried out a few more activities from Pinterest recently and both were big successes meaning 1) they actually worked and 2) the kids were really into them.

This craft was pretty short, sweet, and easy. The kids drew a picture on sandpaper using crayons (we made sure to use our good Crayola crayons), and then I followed these directions and ironed the sandpaper right onto white t-shirts.

We really loved the results.

This activity was really easy because it just involved using grapes and toothpicks to build different 3D figures. When I taught 4th grade, I did a similar activity to teach my students about 3D shapes, but we used gumdrops or marshmallows which get the toothpicks really sticky. The grapes worked perfectly.

This time we invited our neighbor Chloe over to join us.

The kids got so into building different structures with the grapes (while enjoying a healthy snack at the same time) that they worked on these for about an hour.

They would make a figure, take it apart and try something else.

Even Ellie got really into it. She really liked sticking a toothpick in all of her grapes.

 She made a lot of "lollipops" with one grape stuck on the end of a toothpick.

 This was the girls' masterpiece that they worked on together.
