My parents took Joey and Hannah to the Del Mar Fair yesterday. It was the kid's first time going. My mom picked them up at 1:30, and they didn't get back home until 10:45 that night! I downloaded all of these pictures from my parent's camera, and since I wasn't there, I decided I would have two guest bloggers today...
Hannah: This guy's name was Bubba. His
actual name was Bubba. Just Bubba. He was 9 years old. He had really sharp horns, like at the tip.
Joey: Bubba is the name of this cattle and my grandpa.
Hannah: This is the pig race. They were babies. The black one jumped into the water.
Joey: Pig Number 3 looked just like Wilbur in Charlotte's Web. The pig that we picked won the first race.
Hannah: One did a somersault with no hands. I loved it! There were tons and tons of trucks, like 180 of them.
Joey: Awesome! I really loved the Motocross show. I loved when the dirt bikes did back flips and only had their feet on the handlebars.
Joey: I really loved climbing in that big tree.
Hannah: I liked climbing on the trees. They were really fun.
Hannah: There was a snake on the stage. That girl was holding it.
Joey: The man put handcuffs on the girl and she took them off when they were locked. I got to check to make sure the chains were solid. They were!
Hannah: This was a big box of bubbles where you can make humongous bubbles.
Hannah: This is a game with a ball where the machine throws it up and you try to get it. It's a really fun game.
Joey: That's a pitching machine. You throw it and it counts how fast you threw it. My highest was 650.
Joey: This was a balance machine and when all of the lights go on flashing you win.
Joey: This was a science project. They had golf balls go around and do this obstacle course. It was really cool to watch.
Joey: There was really pretty painted stuff on the walls.
Hannah: This is a magic thing. There's a ball in it, you clap two times, take it off and the ball is not there. It's a cool trick.
Joey: There was a magic shop and he showed us some magic. Those were the coolest tricks I've ever seen.
Hannah: That's a massage. Joey and I shared a massage. We both put our feet on it. It was bumpy and fun.
Joey: That "Footsie Wootsie" was sooooo relaxing.
Hannah: This is the ferris wheel. It looks really cool to light up. you go in these carts.
Joey: The ferris wheel was really fun.
Hannah: This is me and Nana a little scared, but then I'm looking down at stuff.
Joey: We stopped at the very top.
Joey: This is the view from the ferris wheel.
Hannah: Me and Bubba are dancing.
My mom sent me this list of everything they did:
- Livestock barn: cattle, sheep, goats (There
was a Bubba)
- Pig races, every pig had a name like Brad Pig,
Nancy Piglosi, and on and on
- Motocross (motorcycle jumping) and then monster
trucks
- Kid's zone: maze & slide house, carousel,
funnel cake, another maze and tree climbing, dinner on the
grassy area
- Petting farm, cavies, rabbits
- bird show
- Snake, magic trick and introduction to the
"Freak Show" (entertaining alone!)
- Science area: bubbles, and lots of hands on
activities
- Tunnel to Fun Zone
- Commercial/shopping area
- Ferris Wheel
- Music and dancing
- Watched people bungee jumping
- Watched people on those fast rides...they
were all teenagers!
- Looked at gems, homemade furniture, kid's pictures
and photos, quilts and collections!
- Peeked at big show that night...the kids
looked like they were in awe...huge stage
- Also watched briefly girls dancing (place
where all the dance places have their kids do little routines)
- Corn dog
- School bus ride back to Torrey Pines windows
were down and we went on freeway...Hannah and I thought we
were on another ride!
That's a pretty impressive list. No wonder they got home so late. Thanks, Bubba and Nana for a great trip! The kids will never forget it!
