I briefly mentioned in a previous post that I was going to join a group of women online that are reading through the whole Bible in 90 days. I've never been very disciplined, so I had no idea if I was going to be able to accomplish this goal. I'm so happy to report that I'm on Day 62. That puts me one day behind, but I've been kind of fluctuating between one day ahead and one day behind. I'm in Ezekiel right now.

The reading really hasn't been that difficult. It only takes me about 30 minutes a day. Sometimes I read in small chunks throughout the day, but mostly I just read it all in one setting. It makes it feel like I'm reading a novel.

This has been a great experience, and I can't wait to do it again next summer. I think I'm going to do it slightly differently though. Next time, I want to read through the Bible chronologically using this schedule, but condensing it to 90 days. I think it will be interesting to get a chronological perspective on the Bible.

Joey: You, me and Daddy are all smart.
Me: Yeah, Daddy is the smartest person I know.
Joey: And I'm the smartest person Hannah knows.

Joey to me: Sometime you, me and Daddy should go to Target and share a slurpee. Your parents can watch Hannah.
[Since when does he refer to Bubba and Nana as "your parents"?]

Yesterday we had a sick day. Joey was the only one that was actually sick with a fever, but the rest of us enjoyed the down time too. Andy even got in on the action and got to watch Robin Hood and cuddle when he got home from work.

(Don't ask me why Hannah doesn't have a shirt on. I really have no idea. These things just happen in our house.)

Joey's quote for the day (and there were quite a few gems): "I love being sick. I love getting medicine, watching cartoons and everyone is nice to me."

I'm not going to lie, Joey does have it awfully good when he is sick. I feel like I have an excuse to spoil him a little. It's like I get a hint of what it feels like to be a grandparent. Cartoons, snacks on demand, some cuddling...it's fun for everyone.

So is it bad that I like the occasional fever? It almost tempts me to have Joey start licking grocery carts once in a while.

KIDDING. Of course, I'm kidding. Grocery carts are way too gross.

But maybe doorknobs.

What a great weekend we had! Here are the highlights:

-Andy fixed our screen door. Before he did, it was barely hanging on to the door frame. It looked so classy. Joey liked it though because he didn't have to open the screen door, he could just walk right through it. It was nice to get a little project checked off our to-do list.

-While Andy and Joey were at Lowe's buying a new screen, they participated in "Build and Grow." I always thought it was for kids 5 and up, but the girl there said that any kids could do it. Joey loved building his new bug box. The only downside is that our track record with housing bugs hasn't been that great so far. A pincher bug lived in it for 2 minutes before Joey decided to dump him in the kitchen sink, and the roly poly disappeared after the lid was left off.

-We grilled hamburgers for dinner Saturday night and they were simple but amazing. We decided we need to make that meal more often, especially when we have homemade guacamole to put on top of our burgers. Yum! A great meal is always a highlight for me.

-Sunday right after church we drove over to our neighbor's 2nd birthday. They had it at his grandparent's house and it was so much fun. Joey loved being in the pool and the bouncy house. Although Hannah surprisingly liked the bouncy house as long as I was right with her, her favorites were the water/sand table and the little swing where she stayed for quite a long time. There was also a pinata which Joey helped destroy. And again, great food! Good times!

-Sunday evening my brother, Timmy, and cousin, Marin, came over. We walked down to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Mr. Taco, and then after the kids were in bed we played Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. With four of us playing at the same time, it was pretty chaotic and hilarious.

Overall, an amazing weekend!

At Leo Carrillo Ranch, there is this fairly large sand area. Joey and this little girl he met at the wedding, Autumn, played in it for quite a while. Joey was the "sand monster" and he chased Autumn and her dad around the sand.
I wonder what Men's Wearhouse thought when they found all that sand in his suit.
