Summer Road Trip, Part 7: Back to Vegas, then Home!

We said goodbye to Timmy and Jill early Sunday morning and drove all the way back to Las Vegas, which was about a ten and a half hour drive. We let the kids choose between staying at a five star hotel or going out to eat at Gordon Ramsey' burger restaurant in Planet Hollywood. It was a hard decision, but they finally decided on the restaurant. 

We got to town in plenty of time for our reservations so the girls and I went to a few stores near the restaurant first. Thankfully we were inside our hotel the whole time because Las Vegas had its hottest day in history at 119 degrees!

Finally it was time for dinner. 

The kids love the show Master Chef Junior, so it was fun to be at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant.

We were excited and hungry!

The restaurant was packed, so it took a while to get our food. We had fun looking at other tables and trying to figure out what they had ordered.

Finally our food arrived! I bucked the trend and ordered a chili cheese hot dog at the burger place. It was massive and very good. The kids said their burgers were the best burgers they had ever eaten.

For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding ice cream sandwich because Gordon Ramsey is known for his sticky toffee pudding. Honestly it was a bit of a letdown, but the rest of the meal was delicious. After dinner, we went back up to our room and called it a night.

The next morning we slept in and then got up and started our last drive home. The kids lived up the last part of the road trip with video games and a movie.

 We made it home early in the afternoon. We unpacked, started laundry, and then the kids went to our friends' house to pick up the cats. Were the cats happy to see us? No one knows. ;-)

Our road trip was such a perfect vacation from start to finish. It crossed so many things off my bucket list: taking a road trip in our van, taking the kids to Las Vegas, seeing national parks, visiting Timmy and Jill, and then the bonus of getting to see the Gallos. I'm so thankful for such a wonderful trip!
