Back to School

Oh my goodness, the day is finally here. All three kids are in school! We have a kindergartener, third grader and fifth grader!

This little one could not have been MORE excited about kindergarten. After watching her siblings go to school almost all her life, she was ready to join the big kids!

In the car she was so excited when I told everyone to unbuckle and get ready to hop out, she said, "I get to unbuckle now too!"

Our neighborhood/carpool girls!

Ellie got Mrs. Johnston for kindergarten. Mrs. Johnston's son is friends with Joey so we've seen her over the summer. Ellie was really happy she got a teacher she already knew!

Hannah and I said goodbye to Ellie at the kindergarten playground so that we could go meet her teacher.

Hannah was really hoping to get Mrs. Barnes (Joey's 1st and 3rd grade teacher), but she got Mrs. Roy instead. She was disappointed about Mrs. Barnes, but we've heard such great things about Mrs. Roy. She was SO sweet when we met her! I know these two are going to have a great year together!

Joey was REALLY hoping to get Mrs. Walker so he was THRILLED when he found out that she's his teacher this year. She is the wife of his baseball coach (for two seasons) so we know their family pretty well. He also has quite a few friends in his class, so although he was really bummed that summer was over, he's pretty happy with how this school year is starting!

Andy happened to be working from home yesterday, so he went with me to pick Ellie up from school. We went out to Chick-fil-A to celebrate and hear all about her day. She had a blast of course. Loved everything about kindergarten! I asked if she had been a little bit nervous, and she told me that when we were waiting for the kindergarten gate to open she was so nervous she was shaking. Mom of the Year that I am, I didn't notice at all! She said she felt fine once we went through that gate and she was playing on the playground.

Clearly our little one rocked the first day of Kindergarten!

The other two kids came home from school very enthusiastic about their first day. They both reported that their teachers are very sweet and a little bit strict, our favorite combination. Sounds like we're going to have another great school year!

Oh my goodness those kids look ready for school and Ellie looks like she's going to explode with joy. She's going to have so much fun. We'll be expecting to hear more of her school conversations. And she gets to unbuckle herself, what a big girl.
