March Madness in Texas

Last year Covid cancelled March Madness. This year Uncle John invited Andy and Joey to his cabin for March Madness.

It was basically our Thanksgiving crew minus the girls and me. We decided that instead of watching basketball all weekend, we would stay home and have a girls' weekend.

In addition to March Madness, there were a couple of other fun events to celebrate that weekend. First up was Steven's 26th birthday!

Joey was back in his happy place fishing...

and kayaking. I hear there were also ATV rides, but there weren't any pictures of that.

One night they did a big crawfish boil. Joey helped to make sure none of the crawfish got away.

Somehow it looks kind gross and kind of delicious at the same time. Joey was a good sport and had a few.

Another BIG event was Uncle John's retirement. It was so big in fact that I actually found an article about it online in the Houston Business Journal.

Steven bought a few fireworks for the occasion. These three had a great time blowing them all up.

I love this picture because if you look carefully, you can see Joey on the left covering his ears. Apparently it was CRAZY loud.

Word on the street is that it was quite the epic firework show!

These people enjoyed the show from a safe distance.

When they weren't watching basketball, celebrating or blowing things up, the group enjoyed some down time on the dock.

Joey didn't have a lot of luck fishing with a fishing pole on this trip, so he and Trent tried fishing with a net...

Success!

They caught thirteen fish with the net that day, so they were very pleased with themselves.

Andy and Joey flew to Houston on a Thursday, and I picked up Andy's parents and them on Monday afternoon. They were all pretty wiped from the weekend, but they all had a marvelous time.
